My heart is broken

On June 18th my granddaughter Summer took her life. She was 14.

Dear Friends,
Tomorrow I will be driving my friend to San Francisco for eye surgery. Please pray for us. Pray for a safe journey and pray for complete success for Chris's eyes. The  surgery is for glacoma. Her pressures are up very high. Chris is freaking out. So pray for her to be calm and to know and feel she is in Gods hands.

Maybe I posted this once before, its an encaustic I did last summer for a local art show. Sometimes things just come together, as did this piece.  It was a no effort, everthing just went the way I wanted it to. But that doesn't happen too often, most things are trial and error, a struggle sometimes, frustrating, uneventful, in my life any way. So when something comes together with ease and fluidity I get very happy. This art made me happy. (I can't seem to make a new paragraph, a glich in the system) Any way tomorrow I'm driving my friend to San Francisco for an appt. with her eye doctor. She will most likely have to have eye surgery in the near future for glacoma. But things just came together for this trip, thanks to the Lions Club, and friends and family. I'm very grateful and happy to be of help. I'm happy.  Have a good week end all.   beth

Happy 2013 everyone. We made it!! Hope you are all feeling chipper this morning. Today I am taking a workshop to learn how to use my iPhone. We've come along way baby! I still remember rotary phones, and party lines. Hee hee. This phone is amazing, I can't wait to use the apps, and learn all the cool tricks.

So here it is. The "Key to Happiness". The collage is mounted on a wood substrate, then mounted on canvas the I textured. Hope you like.

I cleaned my studio this weekend. Took down the Christmas tree. Ready to return to work on Monday. Oh yeah? Its been a relaxing 9 days off. Took in a movie with my friend. Had lots of studio time, got some things done around the house.

This is an encaustic I did a little while ago. I love the texture.

A fabric collage I made yesterday. Not quite finished. It needs some words and more quilting.

My poor neglected blog...It's been a year since I've posted anything. Yesterday I tried to upload some pictures, but ended up deleting some of my later stuff. I'm way out of practice. Hope everyone is having a good season.                   beth.

My #2 son Shawn is moving back home. He is first going to North Carolina with his friend to pick up some antique movie camera's for his friends dad. This summer Shawn was involved in Debbie Reynolds auction of Hollywood memoribilia. He actually got to touch Marliyn Monroes dress, you know the one where she is standing over the street grate in this white dress. So he has been working for the Hollywood types for the past year. He is ready for a change and will be moving home for a transition to Lake Tahoe and a job working construction/and or the ski lifts. Shawn has become a "jack of all trades". From chef to God knows what next. God speed son, and keep you well.

No I'm not dead

No I'm not dead, but bet you've wondered.

I have been working like a dog, getting no where. Getting up at 4:15 in the morning working 10 hour days. I turned 60 in June. Hoorah!

Been taking some online art classes, joined a Zumba excerise class, it makes me sweat, thats a good thing I hear.

We are going to San Francisco today. Just for a day and night. I will visit my favorite art store. Drawers and drawers of  art paper, every thing I would ever dream of owning in one store. Yahoo. I can dream right? Happy New Year everyone.

there's no place like home

I'm glad all the hubbub is over with. Although I did not do a darn thing this holiday. My Christmas list was very short, 3 presents. That's it. It's all I had money and energy for. I did not enjoy decorating for the holidays because it all has to be put away and cleaned up, so it was sparse to say the least. Its just my hubby and I now at home, so this was the first year I said to myself, I just dont feel like it. And I'm satisfied with that decision. I've got one more week off from work, a total of 10 days, its been very relaxing. I've been working on a few pieces for my art wall, this is one. Hope you all had an awesome Christmas, and Happy New Year.

This is my neice Kelsey when she was about 4. She's all grown up now, going to graduate soon from high school. She is gorgeous. I just love this girl. On the back of the photo my sister wrote, "Is Okie a part of the DNA structure? She looks spiffy"
